WC Board To Close Eight Hearing Points

Over the past several months there have been rumors that the Board would be closing or re-locating hearing points. It now appears that the New York Workers’ Compensation Board has plans to close eight hearing points.

According to Capital New York, the following hearing points will be closed; Lockport, Riverhead, Canton, Geneva, Oneonta, Monticello, Queensbury and Hornell. The closure of these hearing points would mean claimants in those areas would have to travel longer distances to their new local hearing point. Or, in the alternative, the Board would allow claimants to make phone appearances in support of their case.

According to the Board, the closures will save New York employers $3 million over the next ten years.
